A great new home!
He's a lucky pup :-) He's heading home with his new family in Northern California. It was great to have him for a month. He's a playful and silly pup. But before he left he gave me lots of kisses to say Thanks!

a day at the dog tracks...
Last night I let them sleep anywhere in the bedroom - but kept them in there so they wouldn't go outside and bug Riena and Luther. Anders slept right next to me with his head on my shoulder. It was so sweet!

easy like sunday evening :-)
just now getting to rest today!

We met Anders' possible new family. They loved him. They will probably take him home Tuesday. He will be very happy.
... yes, we will miss him, but that's part of the deal of being a foster mum, and i'm glad to have been able to be here for him.

Fond Memories...

Two of my kids... I've been working on a photo album to remember my Oliver - he was such a great dog - and ran across this pic. I don't believe i ever posted it and it's quite adorable, great pic of what it's like at my house, cute animals just laying around, chillin'!

i LOVE dogs...
Anders wanted the chew hoof that OReilly was working on but wouldn't take it from him because i've alpha rolled him when he does.
So he went outside , found Archi's sisal ball with the bell in it, brought it inside, which of course interested OReilly so he came running over to get it. Anders gladly dropped it, ran into the dining room and grabbed the chew hoof!!!

cooling off in SoCal
Ridgebacks are not known for liking water... but these are puppies... I missed the best shot - my pup jumped in the pool and laid down! Ran in to get the camera and of course he got up to follow!

For those of you wondering if this is still a blog of "archi's antics" ... she's doing fine overseeing the pups from the safety of her cage... had to bring her inside for a while and she's very happy with that!

good enough for me and bobby mcgee

Rocko didn't work out. He had some temperament problems that really were not going to show themselves until he got in a home. It's sad. But God has a dog that needs a home that is for us, just like he had Ollie.
But for now, it's just going to be me and Lakota.

easy like sunday morning
while i am working on minor preps for the yard to possibly welcome Lakota's new buddy and big brother...MEET ROCKO

from the Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue
California Dogs Available for Adoption
(2nd one down on the list)
Ollie was part ridgeback and i love the temperament. they're wonderful dogs.
I hope to get to meet him tomorrow. I passed the home inspection with 2 issues, one being the rabbits. Ridgebacks have high prey drives. I have to cage Riena and Luther while he gets settled, then work with him on accepting them into the pack. Archi may be ok in her enclosure but if there are problems with that I'll have to cage her as well. I'll work with him as I did Ollie and hopefully he'll accept them. But I want him to accept and trust me first.
I miss Ollie terribly. I've actually never experienced this level of grief. The thought of helping a dog like Rocko, owner surrendered due to a move at 8 years old, really does my heart good. He needs a good home to live out his final years and still has the puppy in him, just like Ollie did. He needs a home like I can provide.
I can't wait to meet him. I imagine I am going thru what parents might who are adopting children and know their child is out there now but just haven't been able to realize the joy of bringing the child home!

i disapprove!
but this is MY SITE ... ARCHI's Antics...
not Archi's Mum's Antics...
so i've crawled back into my cage and am hiding under my pillowcase in protest!

fine by me, says archi's mum :-)
so Kate has tagged me
INSTRUCTIONS: Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so:
Next, select five people to tag:
Mrs. Sniffles Bunny- she may have just bought a new house -GirlBelle and Pearl's awesome foster Mum-home of Bunny and Winnie
And Archi's boy Hugo's Mum
ok so that' s only 4... ahhh well
and on to the questions:
What were you doing 10 years ago?
Oi... i just recently finished college and started a career working for a software developer in Southern California. I was just getting established and becoming a person i think! I had a siberian husky/german shepherd mix dog named winston and a mini schnauzer named popeye.
and kate thought her life was boring! HA i was boring-er!
What were you doing 1 year ago?
i've grown a lot in 10 years and even a bit in a year! last year at this time i had taken a trip to hawaii with my family - mom, dad, 1 sister in HS at the time and 2 brothers and their wives. it was awesome. parents have a time share and gave us plane tickets for christmas the previous year. i spent my 35th birthday on a beach in maui!!!
but never been down under... yet... hehe
Five snacks you enjoy:
1. cheesy poofs
2. snacky cakes (i'm not fat i'm big boned! hehe! jk)
3. popcorn with the dogs and rabbits on movie nights
4. crackers and peanut butter
5. steak!!!
Five songs that you know all the lyrics to:
only 5?!!! this is going to be hard ... i know the lyrics to hundreds of songs... pretty useless information i suspect! so here's 5 in current consistent ipod rotation right now...
1. The Great Golden Gate Disaster - Project86
2. Treat Me Like a Human - Roger Miller (or any of his...)
3. The Color Green - Rich Mullins
4. It's Going to be all right - Sara Groves
5. Exoskeletons - Tourniquet
Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:
1. Give a bunch to God (tithe and then some)
2. pay off car and bills
3. retire my dad - i'm building a business already and my dad knows he gets retired before me
4. whatever my mom wants/needs :-)
5. do nice things for people i love like i do already but can't really afford to
Five bad habits:
only 5? i have so many!!! hehe
1. SNORING (sometimes even when i'm awake!!)
2. i am very hard on myself -
3. I thrash when i sleep - if i get married my hubby will need his own bed!
4. i don't let things go easily - hard for me to change plans fast/redirect/be spontaneous
5. i'm basically ambitiously lazy
Five things you like doing:
1. Playing with my doggie
2. Walking the pup
3. Working in the yard
4. Helping friends
5. teaching High School Sunday school (which i've missed since ollie got sick... need to go back!)
Five things you would never wear again:
1. a dress (i wish!!!)
2. sneakers without socks - i just can't do it anymore!
3. my silk petra jacket - even when they were popular it was a lame jacket!
4. a swimsuit!
5. a cap and gown ... school is overrated
Five favorite toys:
1. my computer
2. My Honda Element
3. my ipod
4. all my cds (i still prefer the whole package rather than just the downloads... it's art!)
5. my nanimals :-)
well this was fun but it made me think too hard and now my brain hurts...
coming thursday... thursday thirteen featuring Lakota!!!

progress

Well it's DONE!!!
I just need to let the plants root and i can move her in.
In front of the hutch left and right i have cilantro.
On the right the little trees are cucumber. I think they'll grow up nicely and provide some shade and barrier from the other 2 wabbits
In front of the brick perch ... read closely dkm & fluffies :-D ... is BASIL!!!
and on either side of the 2 stones is peppermint. I'm hoping it will grow like ground cover around the stones.
Outside on the right and protected by more fencing is a cherry tomato plant. I'm looking forward to that one!

Monday Bunday

This is actually from Saturday - more of the finest in bunny disapproval. I took archi out to see the enclosure with the plants thinking maybe she'd explore a little but she did the same thing - turned right around and went back in the house. I wish i had central air and heat bunnygirl but i don't so i'm not sure what the draw to inside is for her other than the ability to hide under the bed which she does most of the day :-)
I want to give the plants a week or so to stabilize before i put her in and I still have to get the fencing put in place - i got kinda distracted. Saturday Ollie was having a hard day so I took a lot of breaks from working to sit in the yard and cuddle him. At one point i even picked him up and set him in my lap which he usually fights cuz he's way big to be a lap dog - but he rested in my arms for a while!
thanks for all your nose bumps, purrayers, prayers, hugs and just genuine outpouring of care - it is hard - he was a GREAT dog ... i'm thankful he's not sick anymore. but now i realize the missing him part.

exit, stage left
1997 - 200718 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. (romans 8 - esv)

phase 2...
The hutch is in place where it will go and the border is in. Next is fill dirt to raise her up to the level of the border. Tried to get some from a pile in the road but it's just sandy - mentone dirt is really sand - this is "Mentone Beach" after all... after i get the fill dirt in I'll put some veggie plants in for her and a fence and then she'll be ready to move in. It will be nice.
