MAJOR munday bunday disapproval

so i am building an outdoor enclosure for my bunny butthead Archi. she doesn't seem to get the whole litter box concept - she pees everywhere in her house, not just in the litter box. i have a Smells Begone solid i bought from my biz to soak up the smell but it doesn't work on urine + hay - so my bedroom often has the smell of a horse stable :( thankfully she doesn't pee everywhere else in the house but just inside her house... but still the smell is killing me

so i'm moving her outside. of course to do that i have to build a nice big enclosure. (it's 15' long by 4' wide) the first step is digging up the ground and laying chicken wire so she can't dig out.

that's what you see above. laid the wire and have begun covering it.

and i put her in the area tonight so she could sniff it out. you know what she did? she sat there for a 1/2 a minute maybe and then turned and hopped thru the front door and back into the house. she was not impressed ;-p

i wish i had grabbed my camera. it was disapproval at its finest!

Dog Beach Day

My best friend Debbie and I got to take Oliver to Dog Beach today. I wanted to give him a good day and he seemed up for it. He loves playing with the dogs, chasing them and the water.

so we ran in the water...

he watched other dogs play ...

and ran to join in when he could...

but after a short bit he just needed a nap...
even if it was sitting up!

I'm glad he had a fun day today. He was good for prolly 30 mins total in some spurts and then once he was able to settle himself in the car he slept for the drive home. he had a good day, good memories.

he's not much more with me - praying God will take him so he doesn't suffer. his liver is not working, it is the explanation of last month's "fever of unknown origin". he has a little pep but sleeps mostly and doesn't eat.

Good stuffs :-) must really be packed with veggies and fruit for a disapproving rabbit like archi to approve... or she's been running around with my doggies so much that she thinks she is one! She must be taking a page from Tidbit's Identity Crisis

mum wants a cat

Mum was at her friend's house friday night doing laundry and watching a movie. their cat raven was confined to inside because she had surgery on her tail to remove an abcess. She's usually a shy cat but was being very friendly because she wanted out!!!

1. my mum rescued me from the doggie prison place when i was about 5 months old. she spent so much time with me the night before they let me go home with her that when she came to get me the next day i remembered her and ran to her with so much excitement. and she called to me and said "Hi there Oliver" and that's when i knew my name for the first time!

2. as you can see from my pictures i love the beach because i get to play with other dogs. when they are on my territory at home i don't like to play but at the beach i have a blast.

3. i have a sister, Lakota, and i didn't like her when mum first brought her home. but she's my best friend now.

4. i love walkies and if i haven't had one for a few days i will get my mum's attention and then go sit by the door and look up at my leash. and when we go or when mum first comes home i get so excited i jump real high and mum says i look like a kangaroo.

5. i have 3 rabbit sibs, 1 brother rabbit and 2 sister rabbits. they're afraid of me cuz i get excited sometimes but i really like them and when i'm calm they come up and sniff me

6. i love to run - it's my favorite thing. so mum got us a home with a HUGE yard. my sister is a Queensland Heeler mix so it's fun - i run and she herds me. sometimes when we run we scare the rabbits but we don't mean to and we're not chasing them.

7. i am not a morning dog and cookies are not a big deal to me. we get a cookie every morning after we feed the rabbits their veggies but i'm still not awake so sometimes it will be hours after my mum gives me a milkbone or peanut butter dog cookie from trader joes before i even eat it. so my mum has to put it up cuz my sister will steal it.

and that's 7 things about me. i hope you've had fun reading about me. thanks to all you for your prayers, purrayers, and nose bumps for me when i got sick last month. doctor lori and my doctor eaton still don't know why i was sick but i got better and that's what counts!

7 Random Facts about archi ann

1. I was born in tucson arizona
2. My mum's sister was my first mum.
3. I was named archie after the archie comics because the white on my back looks like the outline of Jughead from the archie comics but didn't want to name me jughead.
4. My mum's sister named me archie thinking i was a boy - didn't realize i was a girl till my mum brought me to californa and took me to the vet to get 'tutored'. the vet said they should change my name to veronica but they like archi so we just dropped the e and added ann. i like it
5. I love popcorn - if my mum cooks some it doesn't matter where in the house i'm hidin' the smell brings me to my treat spot.
6. I have splayed front legs and my left leg doesn't really work at all... but i can still do a pretty fast bunny 500.
7. i like projects but my mum doesn't like some of the projects i like... such as carpet "fluffing", baseboard trimming, perfuming certain spots in the closet outside my litter box.

finally! she understands me

well mum is finally learning a bit... she was up reading on house rabbit last night about how to help an agressive bunny and give the right kind of toys and things to keep me occupied. she read this:
Have you ever noticed that the minute you let him out of the cage in the morning, he races to the refrigerator or the couch to continue the redecorating job he left off yesterday? HRS fosterer Holly O'Meara has pointed out that many rabbits are project-oriented and are only interested in an activity if it is going to occupy their mind and body for quite some time. I imagine it must be very satisfying for a bunny to finally complete a major architectural or interior-decorating job with which he has been occupied for a period of days or weeks.

that's me to a tee and i'm glad she understands now that i'm just trying to do home improvement projects around here when i'm pulling up carpet, chewing on the doors and the like. so she doesn't have to worry about what i'm doing anymore.

now if you'll excuse me, i have to get back to fluffing the carpet.

FREEDOM IS THE WORD!

The cute black dog went home last night and Mum got my litter box and food dishes moved fast so i could be free again

ahhh it feels great! and i'm letting Mum pet me again - i get so agitated in the cage that i just grunt but when i'm out i am more relaxed.

it's gotta be in here some where...

gosh darn it... i need to fix my pillow and i know i saw the needle earlier...

oh and yeah, i'm in the cage again, the black dog is back! it's only till sunday tho so it's ok. she's a nice dog.

one of those days...

Our neighbor Stephen gave the pups rib bones - and Ollie even took his and worked on it for a bit! That's a REALLY GOOD SIGN.

He had a really rough week but looks like he's gonna be okay :-)

i'm back!

Hey y'all - I have missed you but Mum says the internet was down.

Thanks to all for the prayers, purrayers, and nosebumps for my brother Ollie. Another vet gave him a different antibiotic on friday and that one is helping it seems. they still don't know what was wrong but his fevers are down. and he's eating, mostly just boiled chicken but mom was just able to get him to eat some Nutripet canned food - she's happy about that cuz he's getting really skinny - he had stopped eating the canned food the vet gave him. don't know why.

and i got the whole place to myself all weekend! Mum had to go on a business trip and her friend took care of the dogs so the WHOLE HOUSE WAS MINE!!! i won't tell you all the cool things i did, i'll get in trouble but i loved having the house to myself. i have to confess tho, as much as i pretend to not like people i did miss Mum and even the dogs and was happy when they were all back. of course now i wish they'd go away!!

back home again

my good ol boy went back in to the hospital tonight and they put another bag of fluids in him. he seems like he's starting to get a little ahead of the curve, still running a fever but it's not spiking as bad. so i'm hopeful that we are going to see improvement soon! he ate a can of dog food - they sent me home with some cuz i couldn't get him to eat what i have. they said to mix it with his regular dry food. of course ollie, in true fashion, ate all the canned wet food licking it off the dry food and spitting that out!!! fortunately lakota cleaned up after him :-)

here's to him continuing to eat and drink and improve!

ollie update

Thanks for checking in on my boy! He's back home and resting for the day. They added a 2nd antibiotic on the chance it might be a tick fever. They would have to send out for that test so we're starting the antibiotic. He did better in the hospital last night, even ate some. he came home energetic and thirsty so those are good signs.

The fever could spike again and they've left the catheter in to admin fluids right away if it does. I hope he doesn't have to go back in tonight.

Thanks for checking on him and praying for my guy.

the vet just called - his temp was 106 point something when they got him from me so it was going up higher. they've got him back down but still don't know what and are running more tests

my Brother Oliver

this is my dog brother oliver - Ollie. He's a Rhodesian Ridgeback, queensland heeler (probably) all around good ol hound dog mix. He's a great dog. well he's been really sick and the doctors don't know why. his temp has been really high, and last night he spent the night in the hospital on IV fluids. but no infection, his bloodwork is fine. tonight mom had to take him back to the hospital because his temp spiked to 105.3, the highest yet. they put him on an IV right away.

please pray for him. and pray for my mom's friend Doctor Lori the vet that she can find what is causing his high temps and get him well fast.

we are all very worried. thanks.

FREE AT LAST!!!

I didn't get to come out Saturday after all. Mom decided to go home to Tucson to visit her family so i got stuck in the cage for 2 more days. But today I got to be free and i'm loving it!!! And Riena and Luther are playing outside again.

fearless Friday

One more day and I'll be FREE ... Jazz goes home tomorrow. I can't wait, it's very difficult to take over the world when you are stuck in a cage... I don't understand how The Brain was able to escape all the time.

And now Mom is saying she wants another outside bun - I think she's insane - she wants one of these - more of a horse than a bunny. She wants to know if anyone knows how she can get one. She's heard they are very gentle and sweet animals. She thinks it would scare the hawks away haha
Well I can't wait until tomorrow! :-)

I used to think having a dog in the house shedding was bad... UGH!

Clyde

clyde was the bun that started it all for me and none of you have met him - i miss him so i thought i'd put up a post. He was a mini broken rex - belonged to the son of my best friend. i took care of him while he couldn't. he was the first rabbit i ever had. tho he wasn't mine i took care of him as tho he were. all my other rabbits came after him.


for some reason lakota took an instant attachment to him - it was really cool. she would follow him around the yard when he was out, if he stopped to nibble she would lay down beside him. it was as if she was letting him know it was safe to be outside. this was back when i would bring the buns in at night. but they got to liking being out so much that even clyde wouldn't let me catch him anymore! and he loved to be held and cuddled - my friend had hand raised him inside.

at the time the neighbors up front had a pit bull. (miserable dog) that dog would just go nuts at the fence growling and barking whenever clyde and riena were on that side of the yard. lakota took to sitting in between the fence and clyde as if to tell the dog if you want him you have to go thru me.

the name Lakota means Friend in Sioux ... it sure fits her!

clyde is gone, as are the neighbors with the horrible dog (that's saying a lot - rarely do i meet a dog i don't like).

the new neighbors also have a dog - but he's much cooler ... his name is Jack - very original!

"Hey Guys! Where am I sposed to sleep?!"

Since it's Monday Bunday I thought a picture of the pups would be appropriate... mainly because Oliver is feeling a little slighted by all the attention Archi has been getting lately. So I've commandeered her website!

Ollie is also frustrated because Archi has taken to pre-emptive strikes. She now grunts and charges at him when he's just minding his own business (which is always because he's quite scared of her due to her grunting and charging!). I understand a pre-emptive strike when dealing with a country like Iran but in this case Oliver is like Switzerland. Archi is just being insane!

Make Mine Chocolate

Easter is just a couple of weeks away and I realize to, in this blog, tell people not to buy a bunny that they won't keep is like preaching to the choir so I'm not going to take the time :-)

But I do want to share a way to share some yummy chocolate bunnies and get the word out to help those buns that are abandoned when they realize that a bunny is a committment!

The local rescue here in Southern California - The Bunny Bunch- has a deal where you can buy a chocolate bun in a collectible tin and the proceeds help pay for rescue efforts. The Bunny Bunch are the folks that helped me find Luther, who has been a blessing to me and Riena. He's named after one of my hero's Martin Luther, the reformer who changed the world for Christians (which is what easter is all about anyway... the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, not bunnies :-) )

well, they are domesticated american rabbits ... so they've kind of forgotten what they were created for and gotten pretty lazy...

but the dogs, when i first moved in here in 2000, dug a den under the shed. and when luther came to live with us he began tunneling beyond the den

i've just been laying around here impatiently waiting for my mom to get off the computer so I CAN BLOG! mom decided since i'm so cool that i can blog she should be able to as well. sigh... now it's gonna be even harder to get her off the computer than it was before when it was just because she was "working" that she wouldn't let me use the computer!

but at least she named her new blog with the right focus... it's called archi's mum

I'd say mom did a great job - lots of parsley and mustard greens and romaine... i definitely approve of her shopping trip last night!

oh and mom says you shouldn't worry about that cord you see back there - it's safely covered in Critter Cord and i can't stand the taste of the stuff unlike Bilbo who gobbled it up!











mom then went outside to feed Luther and Riena. Apparently they weren't as interested in the new greens. Luther took to his new hobby, tree climbing. I think he got the idea from seeing this Silly Wabbit

mom came home the other day and riena was under the tree but Luther wasn't around - then he came flying outta the little tree - he was about 3 feet up.

This morning he started up in the tree, looking for munchies, but then a truck noise scared him so he didn't go up any higher.

Here's a picture of me from this morning - I call it "I'm too sexy for my carrot"

This morning i got a baby carrot and lots of romaine. i also get lots of timothy hay tho my mom doesn't order me oxbow. but she does get me oxbow kibble and it's awesome. mom needs to go to the store to get my celery and then some other goodies

Oh and mom changed my living arrangements - i love it - no more prison bars!

However i guess i'm driving her a little nuts cuz when i'm eating i kind of forget that i'm going potty at the same time and i don't use my box. I use it all the time i just forget when i'm eating.

Today she even moved the food against the wall (because lakota keeps stealing it) and the box next to it and i still forget. she knows i'm trying my hardest.
