easy like Sunday morning...

So Mum is letting me have time in my enclosure again - yippee! It's so nice to be outside. She let me be out all afternoon and evening Saturday until the sun went down. Then she made me come back inside, which I must say I was none too happy about. But she promises to let me back out again after she gets home from church Sunday. She said she doesn't want me out when she can't supervise me. Well, it's not me that needs supervision, it's that dumb puppy. He'll be calm and just lay down and watch me but then every so often he gets too excited and starts pulling on the fence. I suppose Mum knows best. She's actually very proud of how that dumb puppy did today. It took him a little while but he finally started to settle down and she says that's a good sign.

Oh I guess he has a name, it's O'Reilly. But I think dumb puppy works just fine for me.

Here's a picture of him with his new stuffed toy Mum bought him, a Ladybug. Stuffed toys, how silly! I'd rather have treats!

Apparently Riena is not making it easy for Mum to catch her and get her in the house. Silly bunny. She's spending her days hiding in the tunnels under the shed that Luther dug for them and coming out at night to forage. This morning she was out and let Mum give her some veggies but when Mum tried to catch her she was back to the downunder. Mum doesn't want her outside alone.

Goodbye Luther. Thanks for taking such good care of Riena this last year. You were an amazing friend. And had the cutest white nose!

Mum's Home

Hey all - thanks for coming to my party! What a blast having the place all to myself. And no blockheaded puppy annoying me. Well, he's back too!

Mum got home late Saturday night and I guess we rabbits allergied up the place for her so bad that her asthma has been really bad. But she's feeling better today finally so she will be posting pictures from her vacation to HER BLOG! I told her no more commandeering my blog!

The Par-tay is on ...

And it's at my house! All the bunnies (and other species providing they are bunny friendly) are invited... which means O'Reilly is GOING! i'm doing binkies just thinking about not having that dumb puppy around making me nervous.

Apparently mum is going on holiday and she's leaving me here! she says there will be neighbors coming in to check on me and riena and luther but i think we can still have a great shindig while she's gone! she'll never know! the dogs are going to Aunt Diane's house for the time. oh it will be so nice...

FREEDOM... not yet...

Hi there y'all. My hope for freedom last Wednesday was very short lived. Mum says the pup O'Reilly is just too much of a puppy still. Everything is a game, he can't take anything seriously. So me coming out was also a game and he scared the pellets outta me!

So now Mum wears him out and then when he's really tired she sits on the floor with him in front of my cage and tries to get him more used to me so he will learn to be calm around me.

mum says it's time to let me run around the house again like i used to. she thinks O'Reilly is getting used to me enough that he can handle me being out. So tomorrow she is going to let me come out. i'm not so sure about it, but i know mum will protect me. i really want to run around again. i know Riena and Luther do too.

Hey everybody - there's a new Sam update with VIDEO!

Sam's New Home

Peace...

Recently there was a very ill feral cat that had moved in to the rabbit den under my shed. I was able to flood it out and get it to animal control so they could help it. In the process I was also finally able to catch Luther and Riena so that they could come inside and be safe from the puppies who love to chase them (but wouldn't hurt them). Riena is actually very happy about the situation. Much like Archi, she seems quite content to be her house while I am working with O'Reilly to accept them into his pack. He's doing well too. He's more curious than anything and likes the rabbits.

He also still loves his pool and goes out in the morning to take a dip, then comes in for a nap!

He's a lucky pup :-) He's heading home with his new family in Northern California. It was great to have him for a month. He's a playful and silly pup. But before he left he gave me lots of kisses to say Thanks!

Last night I let them sleep anywhere in the bedroom - but kept them in there so they wouldn't go outside and bug Riena and Luther. Anders slept right next to me with his head on my shoulder. It was so sweet!

We met Anders' possible new family. They loved him. They will probably take him home Tuesday. He will be very happy.

... yes, we will miss him, but that's part of the deal of being a foster mum, and i'm glad to have been able to be here for him.

i LOVE dogs...

Anders wanted the chew hoof that OReilly was working on but wouldn't take it from him because i've alpha rolled him when he does.

So he went outside , found Archi's sisal ball with the bell in it, brought it inside, which of course interested OReilly so he came running over to get it. Anders gladly dropped it, ran into the dining room and grabbed the chew hoof!!!

Ridgebacks are not known for liking water... but these are puppies... I missed the best shot - my pup jumped in the pool and laid down! Ran in to get the camera and of course he got up to follow!




For those of you wondering if this is still a blog of "archi's antics" ... she's doing fine overseeing the pups from the safety of her cage... had to bring her inside for a while and she's very happy with that!

i just tried it on a whim after it quit working the other day - it adjusted the lens properly and works fine now! whew!

Rocko didn't work out. He had some temperament problems that really were not going to show themselves until he got in a home. It's sad. But God has a dog that needs a home that is for us, just like he had Ollie.

But for now, it's just going to be me and Lakota.

Ollie was part ridgeback and i love the temperament. they're wonderful dogs.
I hope to get to meet him tomorrow. I passed the home inspection with 2 issues, one being the rabbits. Ridgebacks have high prey drives. I have to cage Riena and Luther while he gets settled, then work with him on accepting them into the pack. Archi may be ok in her enclosure but if there are problems with that I'll have to cage her as well. I'll work with him as I did Ollie and hopefully he'll accept them. But I want him to accept and trust me first.

I miss Ollie terribly. I've actually never experienced this level of grief. The thought of helping a dog like Rocko, owner surrendered due to a move at 8 years old, really does my heart good. He needs a good home to live out his final years and still has the puppy in him, just like Ollie did. He needs a home like I can provide.

I can't wait to meet him. I imagine I am going thru what parents might who are adopting children and know their child is out there now but just haven't been able to realize the joy of bringing the child home!

Oi... i just recently finished college and started a career working for a software developer in Southern California. I was just getting established and becoming a person i think! I had a siberian husky/german shepherd mix dog named winston and a mini schnauzer named popeye.

and kate thought her life was boring! HA i was boring-er!

What were you doing 1 year ago?

i've grown a lot in 10 years and even a bit in a year! last year at this time i had taken a trip to hawaii with my family - mom, dad, 1 sister in HS at the time and 2 brothers and their wives. it was awesome. parents have a time share and gave us plane tickets for christmas the previous year. i spent my 35th birthday on a beach in maui!!!

but never been down under... yet... hehe
